Getting started

How to open a Remiga account

Download the app, confirm your phone number and your ID, and create your wallet in about four minutes.

Opening a Remiga account takes about four minutes. You need your phone, a valid ID and a few quiet moments to write down twelve words.

Start by downloading Remiga for iOS or Android. Enter your phone number and the code we send you by text message. Then choose your Remiga name, for example @nakamoto. Friends will use it to send you bitcoin, so pick something they will recognize.

Next, confirm your identity. Take a photo of your ID and a short selfie video. We need this by law before you can buy bitcoin, order a card or pay out dollars. Most checks are done in a few minutes, some take up to one business day.

Now Remiga creates your wallet. Your keys are generated on your phone and never leave it. The app shows you twelve recovery words. Write them down on paper, in the right order, and keep them somewhere safe. Anyone with these words can take your bitcoin, so never share them and never store them as a photo.

Finally, the app asks you to confirm three of the words. That is it. Your account is ready, and your Lightning address, like nakamoto@remiga.app, works straight away.
